Glenn Beck In a stunning moment of not being completely off the mark , made mention to his viewers that gay marriage would not inf act be detrimental to the United States , and was really not something our govenrment should be discussing in the first place. Without coming out in support of marriage he did take the moment to highlight the ideology that we were becoming more and more like Canada anyway, so why not. It does remain amazing that we remain the glistening ideal of freedom and justice in the world ( perhaps only in our romantic patriot dreams ) , and yet , both Canada and Mexico have both allowed for gay marriages in their countries .
Becks Statements :
“Honestly, I think we have bigger fish to fry,” Beck said. “You can argue about abortion or gay marriage or whatever all you want. The country is burning down…I don’t think marriage, that the government actually has anything to do with…that is a religious right.”
“Do you believe gay marriage is a threat to the country in any way?” O’Reilly asked.
“A threat to the country? No, I don’t,” Beck said, laughing, adding mockingly, “Will the gays come and get us?”
Beck added that “as long as we’re not going down the road of Canada, where it now is a problem for churches to have free speech,” he doesn’t care that much about the issue.
Beck said he cares most that churches “can still say, ‘Hey, we oppose it, but we’re not trying to kill anybody.'”
