Fierth i-ON Interview with MALIK SO CHIC – WATCH: B.B.S.T. VIDEO PREMIERE,

Fierth’s Brian Mills pries into the fashionable world of New York’s Malik So Chic as he releases his heavily styled video for B.B.S.T. ( Bitches Be So Thirsty). Get to know Malik So Chic.

FIERTH: What is your name?
MALIK: Malik

FIERTH: Do you have a nick-name?
MALIK: Malik So Chic

FIERTH: Where are you based, where do you call home?
MALIK: New York City

FIERTH: How tall are you?
MALIK: As Tall as you want me to be but right now 6 ft.

FIERTH: What is your motto?
MALIK: I don’t give a fuck.

FIERTH: How do you describe your work
MALIK: Honest, Edgy, Dark, yet Fun

FIERTH: What about your work frustrates you?
MALIK: The only thing that frustrates me is the fact that I fund it all myself. I work I have friends who help me I do fundraisers…. So sometimes I cant create as much as I want or as often as I want. But I am grateful for the ability to have friends and to have the blessings that I do have and hope they continue to expand.

FIERTH: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
MALIK: I am most proud of having studied abroad at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design for a year during my junior year of college, completing the Columbia University Publishing Program after I finished college. I am proud of appearing on Dance Moms with Abbey Lee Miller last summer (2013) and proud that my debut song was also featured on a Lifetime Movie called Gone Missing. Also proud of how humble I obviously am lol

FIERTH: What do you like most about what you do?
MALIK: I always want to empower youth to pursue their creative or academic dreams no matter how they feel about themselves and no matter their financial situations. I think about that in everything that I do. Am I going to give anyone else any courage by doing this project? Am I still real… or am I just being fabulous for no reason besides my own silly ego. I never want to take myself too seriously. I am just a normal person with a lot of balls. I am no better and no worse than any one else.

FIERTH: How do you keep it real?
MALIK: I keep it real by smoking weed once or twice a month. Eating Lo Mein from the box and telling people how I feel all the time without thinking first but in a nice way of course. Anything I say to you behind your back I say it to your face first that goes for the good and the bad!

FIERTH: What is the secret to success?
MALIK: Well, I think working from a source of genuine passion without any need for controlling the outcome is one component. Another component is not working out of the need for validation. Like with my new video B.B.ST #BitchesBeSoThirsty: I needed to do this video because I was having dreams and visions about it to the point of obsession. I tried to do two kickstarters which both failed. So I saved up money got a job and fucking saved up and also asked friends to help. You need drive. But if you are doing projects because you want to be fabulous or famous then you will never be successful. I don’t give a shit about validation or fame anymore. I have music and video concepts haunting me so I have to get it out of my head before I go nuts. So in one word……… passion.

FIERTH: If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
MALIK: Forensic Science or Tap Dancing. Id also like to learn how to sew … I cant sew for shit. It sucks getting people to sew everything for you. I am not got time for that!

FIERTH: What exactly are you wearing right now?
MALIK: Same thing I wore yesterday. I woke up like this.

FIERTH: What motivates you in life?
MALIK: Books! I love authors like Marriane Williamson and Tony Robbins! They keep me alive and motivated on a day to day basis!

FIERTH: If you weren’t doing what you are doing now, what do you think you would be doing?
MALIK: Well, I’d be a Veterinarian or a Forensic Scientist because I’m a big old nerd and big old animal lover.

FIERTH: Have you ever felt hopeless? How did you get through it?
MALIK: Yes, I certainly have. I got through it at various times in various ways. Some healthy and some unhealthy. Not to be corny but I found spirituality and I attend every Sunday U.N.I.TY which is an LGBT based spiritual center. U.N.I.T.Y of New York has changed my life drastically along with regular meditation and a fuck ton of Oprah’s Life Class.

FIERTH: If someone wrote a biography on your life, what do you think the title should be?
MALIK: Well I’m hoping to get an E True Hollywood story before I die but I will settle for a VH1 Behind the Music.

FIERTH: How would your best friend describe you?
MALIK: Funny, Unpredictable, Supportive, Generous, Needy, Nice, Encouraging, and a free Shrink

FIERTH: What are some qualities you value in your friends?
MALIK: For Girls- Pretty, Rich, Thinner than Me, Tall, Googlable, at least 4 pairs of Louboutins, with at least one small bitch purse dog. KIDDDDDDING! I try to be friends with people who like me for me. I don’t like making friends who meet me as Malik So Chic. I like making random friends out of complete strangers and having a real friendship where we enjoy hanging out and don’t NEED each other for anything specific. I have a whole new set of friends now. Over the last year or so I have cleaned house.

FIERTH: What were you like as a child?
MALIK: I was a spoiled rotten mess. I was the epitome of a BRAT! I was super smart though and never got into much trouble in school. I was very popular. I embraced bullies by simply bullying them back in funnier more outrageous ways and I friended them all. I was the toast of the school! Lol

FIERTH: Where did you grow up?
MALIK: In Suburban Ohio, outside of Cleveland

FIERTH: What did you do growing up that got you into trouble?
MALIK: I had a very very smart mouth. I was witty and I knew how to piss people off including adults. I wish I hadn’t been so mouthy looking back. Fake Ids, staying out tile 4 am you know … the usual.

FIERTH: The kids today …
MALIK: Are consumed by the falsities that the media portrays and it’s sad because it’s ruing self-esteem and replacing self-worth with materialism being the next reality star and having the most bling.

FIERTH: What makes you angry?
MALIK: People who cancel plans.

FIERTH: What brings you the most joy?
MALIK: Dogs Any and All Dogs

FIERTH: Tell me a brief story about an actual accidental adventure you’ve had.
MALIK: Well I got lost in Brooklyn looking for a coffee shop. I don’t really know Bushwick very well. And I was there to meet the director of B.B.S.T my new music video … and it was raining my phone died. I ended up in a shipping area full of the most gorgeous street art! It was a blessing because we ended up shooting the entire video on that very block!

FIERTH: What’s the strangest thing you’ve done this month?
MALIK: Transcendental Meditation—– I thought I was going to get stuck in another vortex like Misty from American Horror Story

FIERTH: What’s something about yourself that no one knows?
MALIK: I am single and looking to mingle and if anyone reading wants to be my summer time boo, they can hit me up on Facebook.

FIERTH: Ever had a rumor spread about you?
MALIK: TONS! When I was associated with the reality show High Society on the CW. Me and Tinsley and everyone had tons of crazy rumors floating. It really affected me at the time cause I wasn’t use to that type of attention which is partially why I have taking a break from the social world. It did help me question my motives and my values and my karmic contributions. It was a blessing! Everything is a blessing really.

FIERTH: Describe a time when you made the best of a public gaffe.
MALIK: What is a Gaffe? That sounds nasty.

FIERTH: What is the worst advice you have ever gotten?
MALIK: Try This. Go Here, It won’t Hurt, No one will know! Kiddos if you ever hear those phrases! You betta run bitch!

FIERTH: Are you a morning or night person?
MALIK: Mid-Day

FIERTH: What were you doing last night at Midnight?
MALIK: Having a slice of cake to celebrate my video!

FIERTH: What do you daydream about?
MALIK: I don’t daydream that much. I find day dreaming to be a waste of time. I try to do purposeful Manifestation and Visualization Exercises about what I want to attract into my life including people places things and projects. I have vision boards collages on my phone and all times of magical shit.

FIERTH: What do you think is the meaning of life?
MALIK: It is different for everyone. But really life is a dance moving us forward to the highest healing good for our souls. I believe that we are spiritual beings (souls) having a human experience in a human body. But really the body is just a shell. Therefore nothing is even real anyways. The only thing that’s real is our perception. That’s why I don’t give a shit about external things. I can’t be faded or shaded.

FIERTH: What is your beauty secret?
MALIK: Sleep, Water, No Drugs, Limited Drinking, I’d like to say healthy food but
everyone knows I like my Chinese food!

FIERTH: What would be the introduction song to a movie based on your life?
MALIK: Wow that’s a hard one. Bootylicious by Beyoncé?

FIERTH: Describe your home in 6 words or less.
MALIK: Cozy, Comfortable, Full, Relaxing

FIERTH: Do you collect anything?
MALIK: I use to collect treasure trolls when I was younger, now I collect Geisha statues and Kimonos and Pictures. In my video that’s why I am a Geisha at the end. I love Geishas.

FIERTH: Do you have any obsessions right now?
MALIK: Barry’s Bootcamp and Avocado Smoothies. And I am super into Brooke Candy right now. She is da realest bitch in the galaxy.

FIERTH: What’s the weirdest item you’ve ever mourned losing?
MALIK: I really don’t mourn things a lot. I am pretty aloof. But I mean I have certainly mourned a few phones in my day!

FIERTH: What is your greatest extravagance?
MALIK: I am truly not an extravagant person. I mean when I order a lot of take out sushi like more than two rolls … I feel like I’m Ivana Trump. I’m like oh I’m having sushi tonight. I’m exotic! I do like to go to nice restaurants occasionally and I do enjoy the massages at Soho House once a month. I guess I like that. There is a guy there named Brad who is amazing and great at releasing toxins!

FIERTH: What is your guilty pleasure?
MALIK: Duh! Rachet Reality TV. Basketball Wives of LA is my favorite

FIERTH: If you could buy anything regardless of cost, what would you buy?
MALIK: A fully staffed mansion in Bel Air with a Leopard Printed Bentley and a mini zoo in the back with Lemurs Monkeys Peacocks and like 10 poodles various sizes and colors. Ohhhh and a few duck billed platypuses, for the pond. Can I add some turtles too?

FIERTH: What is your “Safety Word”?
MALIK: When I say the phrase “I am being serious right now’…. My creative team knows mama aint fucking around… and all ears perk up!

FIERTH: You can trade places with any other person, living or dead, for 24 hours. Who would you choose and why?
MALIK: Paris Hilton duh. Because she is a genius she is a mogul she has created such a smart will crafted empire and Id love to see what its like to have such a busy and fulfilling schedule that integrates fun as a well. Plus I wanna drive her pink Bentley and hang with her animals and bone her boyfriend. It’s a win win. I LOVE PARIS HILTON! She is an icon! No matter what anyone says I think she changed the game of pop culture period. From celebrity obsession to paparazzi to everything.

FIERTH: Who are your main inspirations?
MALIK: Leigh Bowery, Lil Kim, Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, Jay Z, Rick Ross, Divine, Sylvester
